Dear Friend,
Self-love is one of the most complicated invitations in the spiritual life โ not because it is selfish, but because it requires us to extend to ourselves the same grace we freely give others. Tonight, let's ask God to help us practice that grace.
๐๏ธ Prayer of the Day
Heavenly Father,
I am not kind to myself. I hold myself to standards I would never apply to the people I love. When I fail, I am quick to condemn. When I succeed, I move the bar higher before I can rest in it. I speak to myself with a harshness I would never tolerate from anyone else.
Teach me to love myself the way You love me โ not because I've earned it, but because I am Yours. Let the gentleness I extend to others come back around to me. Help me speak kinder words to myself today than I did yesterday. And remind me that self-love is not selfishness โ it is the overflow of receiving Your love well. In Jesus' name, Amen.
๐ก Why This Prayer Matters
How we treat ourselves shapes how we treat others. When we are full of self-condemnation, we often project that harshness outward. Learning to love ourselves โ from a place of being loved by God โ is not self-absorption. It is spiritual formation.
๐ช Thoughts Before Sleep
How do you speak to yourself when you make a mistake? Would you speak to a friend the same way? What would it look like to offer yourself a gentler response?

"Love your neighbor as yourself." โ Mark 12:31
