Evening Prayer: Forgiveness at Day’s End

We carry grudges like weights into the night. Forgiveness sets the soul free to rest.

Lord, tonight I lay before You the wounds of this day.

The words that hurt, the disappointments that linger, the bitterness I hold.

You forgave me beyond measure — help me extend the same.

Heal my heart where anger remains.

Release me from the chains of resentment.

Let me rest light, with no shadow of hate in my spirit. Amen.

Forgiveness isn’t excusing wrong — it’s releasing its grip.

Unforgiveness is a prison where the jailer holds the key.

Stephen, even as stones struck him, prayed: “Lord, do not hold this sin against them.” (Acts 7:59–60, ESV).
