Evening Prayer: Choosing the Better Part

Some evenings, our minds are racing with tasks we didn’t finish. This story shows us what truly matters when we sit at Jesus’ feet.

🕊️ Prayer of the Day

Lord, tonight I confess how often I run in circles, distracted by many things.

I try to serve You, yet forget to rest in You.

Help me remember that Your presence is my portion and my peace.

Teach me to choose listening over rushing, silence over noise.

May my heart learn the better part that cannot be taken away.

Still me tonight, Lord, and let me rest in Your Word. Amen.

💡 Why This Prayer Matters

Busyness can feel holy, but Jesus reminds us that being near Him is better than doing for Him. We need both — but order matters.

🪞 Thoughts Before Sleep

True peace is not in what you accomplish but in Who you sit with.

📖 Bible Story

Martha welcomed Jesus into her house, while her sister Mary sat at His feet and listened. Martha grew frustrated: “Lord, don’t You care that my sister left me to serve alone?” Jesus answered, “Martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled about many things, but one thing is necessary. Mary has chosen the good portion, which will not be taken away from her.” (Luke 10:38–42, ESV).
