A Powerful Prayer for Strength to Forgive & Forget

Heavenly Father,

Thou who art merciful and full of compassion,

By the name above every name, Jesus, I ask for the strength that sets captives free through forgiveness.

I, [insert your name], come before Thee in humility of heart.

Forgive me, O Lord, where I have held bitterness within.

Cleanse me from the wounds of offense and the heaviness of past wrongs.

Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.

Grant me the strength to forgive those who have trespassed against me,

Even as Christ forgave upon the cross.

Cause me to forget the former things and remember not the hurts of yesterday.

Let Thy peace, which passeth all understanding, guard my heart and mind.

Fill me with Thy Spirit, that I may walk in love, and speak with grace.

Make me a vessel of mercy, bearing no record of wrong,

That I may be found blameless before Thee.

In the name of Jesus Christ, my Redeemer and King,

Amen.

“And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.”

~ Ephesians 4:32 (KJV)

Why This Prayer Matters

Oftentimes, people think forgiving someone who wrongs you without any revenge is a sign of weakness, but it’s not.

Rather, it is deliberately choosing to discard what no longer serves you so you get to focus on what actually matters. It means you’re not letting negative emotions control you.

So when you pray for strength to forgive, you invite divine power to lift the weight off your soul.

Even the Bible says, “Whom the Son sets free is free indeed”, and that includes freedom from old pain.

This prayer helps you rise, clear, unburdened, and filled with peace.

Daily Reflection for You

Pause for a moment and reflect:

  • Is there a name or memory I still carry that steals my peace?

  • What would my life look like if I truly let it go?

  • Can I trust God to heal what I release?

Whisper Verse of the Day

When you’ve finished this prayer, open your Bible to Isaiah 43:18 – 19 (KJV).

Read it slowly and let it remind you that God is doing a new thing, and it starts in your heart.

Walk in that promise today.

Stay Blessed,

Mama Raya
